The only thing I disagree with in Trouble’s and others comments is that they’re saying it “goes to heart of masculinity.” I think some people are overstating the devastating nature of the problem. That, to me, is actually a very FEMININE way of looking at the problem. It’s probably embarassing for a guy every time it happens. I don’t doubt that. But, on the other hand, a 44 year old man has lived with his penis for a looong time. So, my bet is that this is not the first time this has happened and, if not, I’m sure he’s found ways to deal with it so it doesn’t completely wreck his life. At a minimum, there are effective drugs for this problem so that’s an easy option that would avoid the necessity of throwing yourself off a bridge if a women doesn’t follow the strict protocol. The real problem, as someone else said, is that there’s a negative feedback loop. It’s not that it’s devasating to masculinity, it’s that impotence sometimes has psychological roots and, if that’s the issue with your man, a woman can exacerbate that by mishandling it. That’s all.
